Death/grind mixing morbid melodies and grinding speed. Bass player Jani Lehtosaari has

Oppression
|
|
Heavy, dark and kinda doomy thrash metal from Vantaa featuring ex-A.O.D.
vocalist Mika Luoma. Guitarist Lare used to play in Dirty Damage but left the
band before they got a record deal and after Oppression folded he also played
in Corporal Punishment with Ykä of Airdash.
Original vocalist Santtu Laakso
formed a doom metal band called Exitus in the early '90s, but spent the rest of
the decade playing bass in Finland's premier space rockers Dark Sun.

O.S.S.Y
|
|
Diverse hard rock/metal group from Liperi. At worst the band sounds as bad as your
average Finnish rock group but on the debut album "Tanssityttö Barbara" there are two
killer up-tempo power metal tracks ("Helsinki" and "Kiirus on") that will forever remain
as some sort of corner stones of Finnish heavy metal.
The second album was recorded with
a different line-up and sadly all the metal influences were left behind. In fact the
album was released under the name Scandaali but the O.S.S.Y 7" singles released right
before the album contained the same line-up and same songs so the whole picture is a bit
blurred. And as if this wasn't enough, the band also used the name Tiger Shark when they
recorded material sung in English.
After O.S.S.Y called it a day the head-honcho
Tero Eronen (vocals/guitar) made a career in the entertainment business.

OZ
|
|
These Heavy Metal heroes hail from Nakkila, Finland, although they are
often mistaken for a Swedish band, even by prestigious Heavy Metal hardbacks. Back in 1982 Sarcofagus vocalist
Jukka Homi (aka Jay C. Blade) was so impressed by their huge Marshall
stacks and stupefying pyrotechnics that he joined and practically took
over the band.
Although their albums were patchy at best,
OZ were Börje Forsberg's greatest signing ever, save
for Bathory. The record sleeve for the Fire in the Brain LP and the
Turn the Cross Upside Down "super
sound maxi" was, incidentally, designed by a chap called Ace the Spunky Black Spade who was actually of the house and lineage of
Börje The Boss, i.e. Quorthon of Bathory.
When OZ got their first royalty cheque for the 12", the number on the dotted line was
none other than "666". That was enough for bass player and songwriter Mr Blade - said diabolic Heavy Metal call-to-arms anthem
remains the first and the last satanic song he ever wrote.
When Mr Blade decided to leave the band and relocate to NYC (to join
Princess Pang) he had to flee the house the band inhabited in Stockholm without telling anybody, otherwise drummer Mark
Ruffneck would have kicked his arse. At the time of this writing in 2002, Mssrs. DeMartini and Blade are making comeback plans.
