The A-side is a good melodic early '80s heavy metal tune with great guitars and some '70s keyboards thrown in. Unfortunately the flipside rather uneventful pop/rock tune.

Also known as N.N.S., these thrashers from Pudasjärvi had a poor man's
Zetro Souza on vocals. Bass player Juha Vuorma later became a world-famous
album cover artist (A.R.G., Autopsy, Whiplash, Unholy, etc.). Axeman Jukka Kyrö
has last been spotted exploring the quicksand of power metal with his new band
Burning Point.

Finland's most talented speed/thrash metallers who made three excellent demo tapes and a self-financed 12" single but always eluded record company interest for some reason. Vocalist/guitarist Ana Autio has since made a career in the media - as a DJ on YLE (National Broadcasting Company) ferrinstance.

Nightwish
|
|
Keyboard-ridden pomp rock with operatic female vocals. For a band whose
whole career is a symphony in prefabrication and marketing, hype and
export efforts, Nightwish are awkwardly
homespun and downright tacky. Incidentally, they have very little, if anything, to do with metal. Or opera, for that matter. Some
of their career highs so far include ranking 2nd on the national trials for the Eurovision Song Contest and taking "metal" to
women's magazines. Marco Hietala of Tarot joining the band on bass in 2001 was a sad day for those of us still harbouring
some hopes for Tarot's return.

Black metal from Tampere. Already before the band had any releases out they got featured in Finland's second biggest
newspaper Aamulehti. One of the members was selected for an interview from amongst the audience at an Amorphis show - not least of
all because of the corpsepaint he was wearing. Say no more.
