Hellsinki death rockers who in the past have claimed to "inhabit a no-man's land far away from trend punk
and crap metal" deserve a mention here because they'd probably be "very metal" even by Viv the Young
One's standards. The band's poets Vil and Litmanen have also helped out fellow countrymen Thy Serpent
and Amorphis in their time of need. Original guitarist Ewo "Meichem" Rytkönen is the man behind many a
Spinefarm Records success story and currently the manager for Nightwish.

Self-styled Jet Black Metal orchestrated by Janne "Demonos" Sova, a metal loony originally
from the north of Finland. Are known to have utilised multiple bass guitars to amplify
their primitive black metal attack.
The band's line-up has been in turmoil for most of their
career, but Sova's maniacal antics have remained the same: the man can undertake an impromptu
long-winded story about goats any time during a live set, or, if your club happens to come equipped
with a mirror-ball, he'll smash it into bits in no time ("Headbangers Against Disco" taken very literally!).
Even the goats on the street know that there's some secret diabolic message buried in the initials of Barathrum's album titles.

Beherit

Finland's premier black metal band originally hailing from the town of Rovaniemi at the Arctic Circle.
Before settling with the name Beherit the group called themselves Horny Malformity
and Pseudo Christ but there was never any doubt whatsoever whether they were influenced
by the likes of Sarcofago and Blasphemy.
Due to many line-up changes and a couple of relocations
Beherit is pretty much personified in Holocausto Vengeance (vocals/guitars) who lost his interest in
metal around '94. The last two Beherit albums ("H41ov21.C" and "Electric Doom Synthesis")
were basically his electric solo recordings.

Death metal group from Oulu who then turned into a breeding ground for Impaled Nazarene
musicians.
Guitarist Jukka Valppu formed Mythos and vocalist Jarno Koskinen ventured into music
journalism whereas
the rest of the group found themselves backing up Mr Luttinen's efforts. Valppu had however already played together
with the Luttinen brothers in pre-ImpNaz formation Mutilation.
Jani Lehtosaari played also in
Obfuscation and afterwards, apart from ImpNaz, he has
had a one man band Plan-E as well as a record label
E-Records/SolarDisk.

Not exactly a real band but a bunch of musicians-for-hire doing music for a TV advert. The A-side track is indeed made for a TV spot advertising Stop liquorice drops and has absolutely
nothing to do with hard rock or heavy metal. The flipside on the other hand is more than decent piece of hard rock.
Vocals on both tracks are handled by
Hannu "Guts" Leiden (Sarcofagus, Havana Black, etc.). The music is composed by Esa Nieminen (schlager pianist from
the Saturday night prime time TV show "Bumtsi Bum") and the lyrics were written by Juha "Watt" Vainio (Finland's top schlager lyricist of all time).

new band featuring guitarist Maike Valanne (Faff-Bey), currently in Terveet Kädet) and drummer Kimmo "Sir" Luttinen
(Impaled Nazarene, Legenda). Jarva's goal, apparently, is to combine the spirit of Nick Cave, Motörhead,
Sisters Of Mercy et al, yet at their best The Black League have rivalled old Sentenced's darkest rocking
moments and at worst sounded like lame-ass country-Metallica.
