If there's a will there's a way. This heavy metal band from Vihanti is the epitome of DIY spirit.
The origins of the band go 'til '83 and instead of high profile gigs in bigger cities Gobra used to travel around the
country with their own bus and PA system playing dozens of gigs a year in the countryside.
All Gobra records are self-financed and usually recorded and mixed by the band themselves. Due to limited resources
the results are often varied but that doesn't prevent the spirit of heavy metal coming through.

The band getting an international recording deal in '88 was a big piece of news in the Finnish media at the time.
Despite innumerable attempts not a single Finnish pop or rock group had really made it big outside
of Finland back then. This shameful state of affairs had tormented Finnish music journalists for years to
such an extent that they had managed to make it look like a question of national pride.
All bets were placed on Gringos Locos and the band did more than ok but not well
enough to bring relief to journalists simmering in self-pity. Later on Johnson has sung in e.g.
Project Forever and guitarist Ben Granfelt has recorded a bunch of solo albums. Both Johnson and Granfelt are
members of Leningrad Cowboys.
