Peter Bredbacka's Madhouse
|
|
One of the earliest hard rockers in Finland with strong '70s wibe. Good musicianship combined with two songs that are slightly reminiscent of the more laidback edge of NWOBHM.
Axeman Peter Bredbacka made a short visit to Iron Cross playing on their "Uusi musa" appearance and Jukka Ritari was one of the three vocalists on the Moottorilinnut album. These days some of the members have a band called Epoch Theta.

One man doom metal project from Tampere (originally from Peräseinäjoki) reportedly cherishing the finest traditions of the genre -
monumental, melancholic and with clear vocals. The man behind all this is
Marko Hautamäki a.k.a Lord Gravehill who has recently joined Finnish gothic rock legends Two Witches.

Maple Cross
|
|
Thrash metallers from Jääli (near Oulu - ask NHL defenseman Janne Niinimaa for specifics)
with songs incorporating funky parts with wind instruments and piano and so forth.
Worked surprisingly well but ultimately wasn't either aggressive or peculiar enough
to elevate them from an underground curio to cult heroes - or bona fide recording
artists, for that matter.
Their anaemic comeback in the 2000s cannot exactly be
called a reunion because there are no original members involved.

Moottorilinnut
|
|
This project masterminded by Kimmo Kuusniemi of Sarcofagus fame is far more groundbreaking than it seems
at first glance. Musically the album is less experimental than the Sarcofagus recordings but it is the first ever
metal album that is sung in Finnish. It's also the first Finnish metal album featuring female vocals - Muska
Babitzin sings on three tracks. The other vocalists are Muska's brother Kirka (see elsewhere) and Jukka Ritari Madhouse.
Last but not least the album was also released as a video although back in '82 home VCR's were very very scarce.
